Internet Use Disorders are more than just too much screen time, they can seriously impact mental health and daily life. Studies have shown that adolescents and young adults are particularly vulnerable, given their high levels of internet use for socializing, education, and entertainment. According to the American Psychiatric Association (@AmericanPsychiatricAssociation), the disorders include:
- 🎮 Gaming Disorder
- 📱Problematic Social Media Use
- 🎰 Online Gambling, and even
- 🛍️ Compulsive Online Shopping
Research shows that these behavioural addictions can trigger symptoms similar to substance abuse, affecting mood, sleep, and overall social well-being.
