We have just completed the TOY FREE MONTH Erasmus plus project. A project showing kindergartens that we don’t need plastic, old fashioned toys to keep our students busy! It has shown and taught us that by being sustainable and using materials that would otherwise be waste, we can create toys for the entertainment of our students, but also to use for teaching purposes.
In these years we have created a concrete teachers’ guide with the help of kindergarten teachers throughout Europe. Specifically, kindergartens from Slovenia, Poland, Austria and Greece have implemented at least a month without conventional toys in their schools, giving us valuable feedback based on their experience.
All in all it has been a very fruitful experience, with only positive comments from teachers, students and parents. Most teachers admit they liked it so much they will continue implementing the practice in the years to come. So, the project will continue existing even after it is finished!
