Project number: 2024-1-PL01-KA220-SCH-000251896
Implementation period: 01/12/2024 to 30/11/2026

  • Project description:

The Toy-Free Month project encourages kindergarten teachers to engage young learners in creating toys from sustainable materials during a dedicated month without conventional toys in the classroom. This hands-on approach fosters creativity while instilling sustainable mindsets and lifestyles in future generations, contributing to a more eco-conscious society.

To support educators, the project offers The Sustainable Play: Toy-Free Month Guide, providing step-by-step implementation instructions. Additionally, a Training Activity in Slovenia and Pan-European Conferences will equip teachers across Europe with the knowledge and tools to bring this practice into their classrooms.

By delivering practical, targeted content on education for sustainability in early childhood, the project raises awareness and promotes lasting behavioral change —starting with teachers and extending to their students, ensuring a more sustainable future for our planet.

  • Goals:

    • Equip kindergarten and early childhood educators with the knowledge and skills to incorporate sustainability values and sustainable toy-making into their teaching practices.
    • Develop multilingual resources to guide educators in creating toys from sustainable materials.
    • Promote collaboration and the exchange of best practices in sustainability education among kindergarten teachers across the EU.
    • Facilitate peer learning opportunities to strengthen educators’ competencies in sustainability.
    • Empower project partners to deliver further training on the use of sustainable toys in early childhood education.
