  • Project description:

The GOFAR project aims at training volunteers, trainers and other individuals working with refugees to further develop their practices to accommodate the needs of refugees in order to grant them with more opportunities.
The GOFAR project intends to support among others volunteers who are engaged in the field of reception and integration of refugees. Since this line of work can be a daunting endeavor it may have volunteers and fieldworkers feeling overwhelmed and helpless and as such not in the best position to grant refugees the support they need. With the overarching aim of offering the tools for bridging the intercultural and social divide and for promoting inclusivity and non-discrimination, the GOFAR project is dedicated to raising awareness of and filling this support gap by providing psychological support, orientation and intercultural competence training for the participant volunteers, refugee workers, educators and managers.
Therefore, the main goal of the GOFAR initiative is to assist workers involved in the migration area and through that to facilitate the granting of opportunities to all refugees.
In this vein, its aim is to improve the competences of educators, refugee workers and staff and to assist in their endeavor to care for refugees in a range of capacities and foster inclusion and cultural diversity.
To that end, the GOFAR project targets social inclusion and promotes the exchange of good practices and the conceptualization of novel ways to reduce inequalities by encouraging participation to non-formal education as well as
programs that combat racism, segregation, and other forms of discrimination.
